For the first time in over 10 years—since Flownative Beach was founded—we have to raise our prices. Due to the extreme increase in hardware prices (keyword: “Ramageddon”), our main supplier, Hetzner, has drastically raised its prices. Since the extent of these adjustments was not known in advance, we, too, were surprised by their magnitude. Unfortunately, we have no choice but to pass these higher costs on to our customers on relatively short notice.
Below, I’ll explain the background behind these adjustments. If you’re not particularly interested in the details and just want to know what our new prices are, skip ahead to “Flownative Beach Prices Effective July 1.”
Hetzner Raises Prices Twice in a Matter of Weeks
We received the first announcement of a price increase from Hetzner in March. We don’t blame our infrastructure provider for this—hardware prices, especially for RAM and storage, have skyrocketed due to the high demand from AI companies. Depending on the type of storage, prices have in some cases quadrupled within six months!
The first price increase, averaging around 30% for us, was still moderate. We therefore decided to monitor the situation for the time being and forgo part of the margin we had (painstakingly) earned over the past few months through improved automation.
Shortly thereafter, however, a second announcement came: Prices would be raised again on June 15. The exact price list, however, wouldn’t be published until the day of the increase. That was, to put it mildly, not very nice—how are we supposed to plan our cost accounting if we don’t know what we’ll be paying starting in mid-June?
The June increase turned out to be even worse than feared:
Prices for some of the server types we use were raised by up to 350%!
I’m not a fan of bold text, but this information really takes a moment to sink in. A bare-metal server that we use for Kubernetes control plane nodes now costs more than four times as much. The price for our high-performance worker nodes rose to 3.5 times the original amount.
Impact on Our Cost Structure
Our fully managed Beach projects consist of several components: projects, builds, databases, object storage, monitoring, metrics, and Beach instances. The costs for these arise, on the one hand, from our development and administration work and, on the other hand, from computing power, RAM, storage, networking, and other services that we purchase. A 300% price increase at Hetzner therefore does not automatically mean that the Beach bill must rise by the same amount.
Our instances are most directly affected, as their price depends most heavily on Hetzner’s performance. The largest portion of these costs comes directly from Hetzner’s charges for CPU and RAM. In addition, we always maintain a certain capacity buffer in the cluster so that your application can scale at any time. However, an instance includes more than just raw computing power: it also covers the automatic builds of your project, traffic (up to a certain extent), and the backups of your instances.
Because Hetzner’s price increase affects Beach instances most directly, their prices are rising more sharply than those of the project packages. However, we do not pass on the increase on a one-to-one basis: While Hetzner’s prices for the server types we use have quadrupled in some cases, our instance prices are rising on average only to double the previous rate. We absorb the difference.
» We are offsetting Hetzner’s price increases by foregoing part of the surplus we have generated through optimisations over the past few months. «
Our costs, too, have continued to rise over the last 10 years. Nevertheless, we have never raised our prices because we have been able to make savings elsewhere through ever-improving automation and optimised processes. To ensure that the cost increase for our customers is not too high at this stage, we are foregoing some of the revenue we have generated in recent months by switching from Google to Hetzner.
Of course, we have also taken another close look at alternatives to Hetzner. However, hardware costs are also leading to significant price rises among other providers. Many have already implemented these increases this year, whilst the rest are planning them for the near future.
We are therefore convinced that our strategy of relying on Hetzner and, increasingly, on bare-metal servers is the right one. Services of this quality simply cannot be found at a lower price anywhere in Europe.
Flownative Beach Prices Effective July 1
Starting next month, new prices will apply for Flownative Beach. We would have liked to give our customers more advance notice; however, since Hetzner’s announcement came very late for us as well and the impact is relatively dramatic, we can no longer delay our price adjustments.
The following table provides an overview of the most important changes:
| Projects | Previous Price | New Price | Increase |
| Micro | 5 € | 5 € | 0 % |
| Starter | 19 € | 25 € | 32 % |
| Essential | 49 € | 59 € | 20 % |
| Business | 159 € | 189 € | 19 % |
| Premium | 499 € | 599 € | 20 % |
| Instances | Previous Price | New Price | Increase |
| S | 9 € | 19 € | 110 % |
| M | 19 € | 39 € | 105 % |
| L | 49 € | 89 € | 82 % |
| XL | 69 € | 189 € | 174 % |
| XXL (new) | - | 399 € |
All prices are net, plus applicable sales tax. You can find a complete list of the new prices on the Beach Pricing page.
Starting July 1, 2026, these prices will apply to all Beach packages. You don’t need to do anything: Your Beach contract will continue—as usual—on a monthly basis and will automatically renew for another month at a time. Starting in July, we’ll bill you based on the new prices (not retroactively, of course), so the new prices will first appear on your August 1 invoice.
If you do not agree with the new prices, you can cancel your Beach contract at any time as of the end of the month—as always—by simply sending us a brief written notice. You can find more information on this in our Terms and Conditions.

Flowtogether 2026 – our strategy workshop in June
What the Future Holds
While we don’t know how the storage market will evolve, this increase seems to give Hetzner some breathing room, at least for the foreseeable future. In addition, we’re continuing to explore ways to run applications more efficiently on Flownative Beach. We’re happy to help you optimize your project—often, clever use of caching and storage optimizations can lead to significant resource savings.
Last week, we met with the Flownative team for a strategy workshop. The focus was on the many ideas we have for the further development of Flownative Beach. AI, among other things, has brought about significant changes in our field—and we want to address this with new, innovative features in Beach. Not the way everyone else does it, but in our own, unique Beach style.
We realize that a price increase is never welcome news—thank you for your continued loyalty to Flownative Beach. If you have any questions or suggestions, or if you’d like to work with us to review the costs of your project, please feel free to contact us anytime!
Best regards from
Karsten, Christian, and Robert
